Professional Background

I have worked in the mental health field for over 20 years. I received my PhD in clinical psychology from Loyola University Chicago in 1997 and have been a Licensed Psychologist since 1998.

I have trained and worked in a wide variety of settings, including centers for women, children and families; college counseling centers; hospital-based programs for psychiatric, alcohol and other substance abuse treatment; brain injury rehabilitation programs; and independent practice.

I was also on the psychology faculty of Marquette University in Milwaukee for seven years, where I taught undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology, performed research, and trained graduate students in psychotherapy and psychological assessment.

My specialization in the field of gifted and talented individuals began after I became a parent in 2003, developed through extensive reading and continuing education, and continues to be enriched by regular, formal consultation with other GT specialists in a variety of fields. I also find it essential to continue my learning through discussions with parents, educators, health professionals, and gifted children and adults when I participate in and speak at local, state, and national conferences.
